Ultra-radical jihadists of the Islamic State (IS) have executed “dozens of Syrian soldiers” who fled the Tabaqa airbase in northern Syria, an NGO declared on Thursday, while the jihadist’s Twitter accounts were referring to 200 deaths, AFP informs.

„Dozens of Syrian soldiers were captured while they were fleeing towards Esraya, in the Hama province, after the IS took over their airbase in Tabaqa. They were executed by the jihadists on the night of Wednesday to Thursday”, said Rami Abdel Rahmane, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

According to him, 1.400 soldiers were defending the Tabaqa airbase, the last bastion of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in the Al-Raqa province, captured on Sunday by the IS jihadists. During the fights, about 200 soldiers have died and approximately 700 were able to reach the areas controlled by the regime.

Out of the other 500, some continue to fight on a farm in Ajrawi, near the al-Tabqah base, some are hiding and several dozen were captured on the night of Wednesday to Thursday while they were trying to flee, on a desert road 50 km long, towards the town of Esraya, in the Hama province, that is under the control of Damascus, he pointed.

The jihadists have posted a video on their Twitter accounts that shows young men in lingerie walking barefoot on a deserted road, flanked by armed jihadists, one of which was bearing the flag of his organization. The execution of 200 prisoners is announced on the accounts.
