On Thursday, ships of the Black Sea Russian Fleet and the naval aviation began extensive military maneuvers regarding the verification of the unified air defense system in Crimea (Ukrainian peninsula in the Black Sea, annexed by Russia in March of last year), training to reject potential cruise missile attacks from a conventional enemy, reports RIA Novosti, quoting a source of the naval base in Crimea.

Several Su-30 multifunctional fighter jets and up to four submarines and small caliber ships equipped with missiles of the Russian Fleet based in Sevastopol (Crimea) are participating in these exercises.

The maneuvers are being carried out in the Black Sea and in the military training polygons in the peninsula.

Moscow had previously informed about the creation of an independent air defense group in Crimea, which includes ships, intercepting bombers and ground radar systems.
