Two tourists who hid ammunition inside of toys in their luggage were arrested on Monday on the Ben Gurion Israeli airport of Tel Aviv, announced a spokesman of the airport, according to AFP.

The two passengers, an Israeli and an Uzbek, were to fly off to Tashkent aboard a plane belonging to the Uzbekistan Airways company.

The 36 year old Israeli was spotted when checking his hand luggage. Inside a toy that was shaped like a boat, the security forces discovered a charger with munition. The suspect tried to flee, but was caught and arrested.

During the thorough control that followed the incident, more bullets and also drugs were found hidden inside a doll in the suitcase of a passenger of Uzbek nationality, who was also detained, added the same spokesman.

According to the first elements of the investigation, it was not a maneuver destined to test the security measures in the event of a possible attack, but an “actual attempt”, said the cited source.

The Ben Gurion Airport is considered one of the safest in the world due to the strict security controls imposed on the passengers.
